Indian travel BPO firm inaugurates RP hub via ‘managed facility’ model
An Indian-headquartered outsourcing company has opened its first service delivery hub in the Philippines by way of a new call center construction model introduced by a local company.
InterGlobe Technologies (IGT), an Indian-owned call center operator that caters solely to the travel and transportation industry, inaugurated its Manila site last December using a “managed facility” offered by Anthem Solutions, a subsidiary of call center systems integrator DTSI.
Unlike in the traditional method where a call center locator would put up or rent a facility for its operations, InterGlobe was able to move in rapidly through a completely ready-to-use and equipped office developed by Anthem Solutions.
In this case, the facility is located at a new building in Upper McKinley Hill, Fort Bonifacio, in Taguig City. IGT said it spent an initial investment of about $3 million to “release” the facility that can accommodate 500 seats at the outset.
IGT described itself as a “pure-play” travel technology outsourcing organization with four other hubs all located in India:Ttwo in Gurgaon, one in Mumbai, and one in Chennai.
The new call center is reputed to be the “very first BPO specializing in travel and hospitality processes in Philippines.”
Vipul Doshi, CEO of IGT, said Manila center is an “important addition to its global footprint” as the company plans to institute new facilities in other parts of the world like Romania, Poland, Brazil, and Spain.
Anthem Solutions president and CEO Miguel Garcia said the “managed facility” model would allow prospective call center firms to accelerate their entry and expansion into the Philippines on a “no-CAPEX (capital expenditure) basis.”
Garcia said the new model would enable BPO companies to focus on their core business, while Anthem Solutions takes care of the infrastructure and other regulatory requirements.
So far, outsourcing firms seemed to have embraced the “managed facility” approach as Anthem Solutions, in just barely a year, now carries over 10,000 square meters or over 3,000 seats in inventory at six locations inside and outside of Metro Manila.
The company said it expects to triple its inventory over the next two years with four brand new BPO buildings.
