Billy and Jay-R: Back-to-back

February 6, 2010, 3:52pm

Imagine the highly charged tandem of international pop/R&B sensation Billy Crawford back-to-back with our very own Prince Prince of R&B Jay-R, together with equally-enticing R&B femmes Kyla and Nikki Gil.

It’s Valentine’s Day dance party like no other, and a celebration of the best of both worlds – where four major stars from both ABS-CBN and GMA-7 join forces for a rare, must-see event; the perfect shindig for coosome twosomes, and the best antidote for the loveless and lovelorn.

“Groovin’ Love” will be held on Feb. 14 at the SMX Convention Center (Halls 1 and 2), produced by ALV Talent Circuit. Showtime is 8 p.m.

Soul brothers Jay-R and Billy couldn’t be more elated about their V-Day tandem. Spreading their timely message of love reconciliation, Jay-R and company are spearheading their own initiative in transcending such contrived and petty showbiz issues as factionalism – best exemplified by the so-called “network wars.”

“It’s always us or them, them or us,” Billy laments. “We’re all doing the same thing anyway, right? We’re artists, entertainers, so must we always wear our allegiance on our sleeves? We’re keeping the love for both networks – all networks, in fact, and all artists.” Despite the success of his “Groove” album, the perky host of ABS-CBN’s “Pilipinas Got Talent” and “ASAP” isn’t about to rest on his laurels, or ride on the “covers bandwagon.” “As artists, it’s always our responsibility to evolve land create something fresh and new,” Billy explains.

For his part, Jay-R has just completed his forthcoming all-Tagalog follow-up to his chart-topping “Soul in Love” album. “There was so much clamor for a follow-up, that’s why we did it. But as Billy said, the real meat and potatoes come with cooking up something original,” he says.
