The piercing heat of summer is starting to become noticeable and the coming months will see more people trooping to where the sun, sea and sand are. Summer season has officially started in the Philippines!

Yes, the season to go out and have fun under the sun has commenced. As the summer season usually entails bonding moments with friends and family on the beach, it would be nice to start sorting out your summer options as early as NOW. The Philippines has 7,107 islands where you can do a hundred fun activities this summer.

Time to hit the beach

Aside from the usual dilemma of choosing the bathing suit and picking the latest trends on summer fashion, we also ask ourselves: Which island do we go to this year?

One famous choice is Boracay. Over the years, the island has become very accessible and even affordable as numerous airlines began offering summer packages for group outings.

The nature-inclined beach babies can opt to go to Palawan as the province has been regularly featured on TV, magazines and international web sites for its breathtaking attractions. The underground river has recently been voted as a finalist in the new Seven Wonders of the World. A memorable snorkeling adventure awaits visitors in a Honda bay island hopping tour where numerous schools of fish can be seen.

For those looking for a more affordable and accessible destination, the province of Batangas in Southern Tagalog is one of the most recommended spots near Manila. The whole stretch of Laiya beach in Batangas has numerous hotels that can fit the family budget.

Summer adventure

While hanging around the beach may not be the ideal way for the more adventurous vacationers, new challenging activities are readily available in various provinces of the country.

Capturing the attention of foreigners and igniting the Filipino’s competitive spirit is the Cam Sur Water Sports Complex. The complex is recognized worldwide for its one of a kind wakeboarding experience. Aside from wakeboarding, guests can also experience wake skating and jet skiing as well as enjoy spas and other entertaining experience. Because of the CWC’s exciting activities, Camarines Sur has become the most visited destination.

Riding the waves is another popular water activity this summer. Surfing has steadily been picking up popularity among teens and young adults as a cool sport as the Philippines is home to numerous levels of surfing levels such as the Camarines Norte’s Bagasbas beach for beginners to the more challenging Urbiztondo beach in La Union and Lanuza province. Taytay’s Club Manila East’s indoor waves, on the other hand, could provide eager newbies the basics of the sport.

Those hungry for an adrenaline rush this summer can try the white water rafting adventure in Davao and Cagayan Valley. Both provinces offer a thrilling ride of a lifetime with Mother Nature. Summer presents an enjoyable opportunity to try the white water rafting as the water during this time is a bit calmer compared to the raging waters during the rainy season months.

Since sunny days are here again, it would be best to start planning ahead and searching for the best travel packages available. A well thought out plan could also provide an opportunity to maximize the summer vacation and plotting the places where you could possibly go to beat the summer heat.

So go, break a sweat and splash your way to summer!
