SuperCat Fast Ferry grows 8% in 2009
SuperCat Fast Ferry Corp. (SFFC) will operate the SuperCat 36 this month after its refurbishment. SuperCat 36 and 38 are twin vessels with the same state-of the-art equipment and exterior design.
2009 was a good year for SuperCat as it posted a modest 8 percent growth compared to 2008. SuperCat resumed its operation in the Western Visayas area serving the route Bacolod-Iloilo and vice versa on August 28, 2009.
SuperCat's resumption of its operation in Bacolod and Iloilo has generated more than 100 jobs in both cities.
In the middle of last year, SuperCat purchased two vessels from Sydney Australia, an addition to SuperCat 22, 23, 25, 30 and 32.
Newly acquired vessels were named SuperCat 36 and 38.
SuperCat 38 was refurbished ahead of SuperCat 36 and was inaugurated last November 27, 2009 and commenced its operation from Cebu to Tagbilaran on the 28th of November.
SuperCat 38 is the latest fast craft model in the Philippines, equipped with modern technology. It has a GPS (Global Positioning System) used for monitoring while sailing the sea from departure going to its point of destination.
It has a rubber jumper which makes the vessel more smoother sailing even on big waves and can accommodate 278 passengers.
Last December 4, 2009, the Bureau of Quarantine in Cebu in cooperation with the Department of Health Region VII awarded SuperCat 32 as the cleanest vessel of the year under Fast Craft Category and SuperCat 30 awarded third place.
“The trips you take with SuperCat are always comfortable because of the men and women who want nothing else but to give you the best service possible, says SuperCat president Ramon Guzman Villordon Jr.
