Ain't much love for Courtney Love

The 45-year-old rock chick Courtney Love is having a few bad months, preceded by a few bad years and some bad decisions along the way.
Late last year, Love lost the legal custody of her 17-year-old daughter, Frances Bean Cobain. Frances’ legal guardianship had been transferred to Kurt Cobain’s mother and sister. This was followed by a restraining order filed by Frances Bean against her.
For those Love-watching, the court ruling is justified. It will be recalled Love’s antics in the past few years were all but makings of a stellar mother, even to a teenaged daughter.
Love had supposedly thrown a “suicidal sweet 16” birthday party for Frances —quite in poor taste considering how the kid’s father died— and also reportedly admitted to “Elle” magazine that she used heroin on the first trimester of her pregnancy.
She also found herself being litigated for bizarre rants on MySpace and Twitter; and went on a further downward spiral when she insinuated on her Facebook page that Britney Spears had been molested by her father, Jamie Spears.
At some point, the Hole singer also claimed to be a victim of a case of identity theft, something the police dismissed.
Despite battles with drug addiction and losing her husband, Love hadn’t always been deep in a hole like this. Her band even earned Grammy nominations for 1999’s “Celebrity Skin” and the song “Malibu” released in 2000. She likewise earned a Golden Globe Best Supporting Actress nomination for her role in “The People vs. Larry Flint” and a win in the same category at the New York Film Critics’s Circle.
In January this year, Love had threatened to file a lawsuit against Cobain’s mother, claiming on Twitter that, “They squeesed [sic] my bank accounts so that they were frozen because they know im going to sue the holy s--t out of them,” and saying Frances’ relatives on her father’s side has been “crocodiling” the teener.
As recent as February 7, 2010, Love has come out to say she had been, at one point, too poor to buy shoes (she says she only had one pair and Frances Bean didn’t have any!), which inspired her to write her new song “Never Go Hungry,” expected to be included in an upcoming album in April 2010, purportedly titled “Nobody’s Daughter.”
She also said that she has lost all her money because she was “exploited” and “defrauded of her wealth by various people.” She also tells Clash Magazine that she doesn’t have money because, “I’m a widow and because I’m a woman.”
The temporary guardianship over Frances Bean will expire on Feb 10, just six months prior to her turning 18. Even if Love reclaims guardianship, Frances Bean could be emancipated from her in just half a year.
