As part of its global expansion plans, StarTek, Inc., a leading provider of high-value business process outsourcing (BPO) services, has added a second Philippine facility good for 2,100 seats at the Eton Cyberpod Corinthian business center, Ortigas Avenue across Robinson’s Galleria.

The new 15,000 square-meter Ortigas site will bring StarTek’s total capacity to 3,200 seats. Already, the company’s existing 1,100-seat Makati facility is expected to be at full capacity by the first half of 2010.

“We are building on the success of our first location in the Makati business district on Jupiter Street that opened over a year ago,” announced Larry Jones, StarTek President and Chief Executive Officer.

StarTek, Inc. is headquartered in Denver, Colorado, USA. and has been operating for the past 23 years. It provides customer care, sales support, complex order processing, accounts receivable management, technical support and other industry-specific processes to clients from its 20 delivery centers which are mostly in the US. Its other facilities are in Canada and in Costa Rica.

The company continues to ramp up earnings from its Philippine operations which started September 2008. Revenues from its Makati site increased from $100,000 in the third quarter of 2008 to $3.2 million in the third quarter of 2009. Overall, its revenues increased by $3.5 million, or 5.1%, from $68.9 million in the third quarter of 2008 to $72.5 million in the third quarter of 2009, driven by a $3.2 million increase in revenue of its American business.

StarTek will recruit employees for its Ortigas site in the coming months, in addition to recruiting activities already under way at its Makati facility. Its second site’s location near the junction of a major light rail and surface transportation hub ensures accessibility to a large, high-quality labor force, officials reckoned.

StarTek’s planned expansion will contribute to the growth of the contact center industry in the Philippines, which is expected to expand at least 15% this year to US$5 billion in revenue according to the Call Center Association of the Philippines (CCAP). In 2009, the contact center industry recorded revenue of US$4.5 billion.
