"I am not ready yet to accept suitors or fall in love with anyone,” thus declared Charice during a press interview at the Rembrandt Hotel to launch her Valentine concert entitled “Charice In Concert with Ryan Cayabyab.” “Actually my mother has already given me the go-signal, but I believe it is not the right time yet.”

Charice (Pempengco), is the only country’s artist who has guested in the most popular TV talk shows in the US, like that of Oprah.

Ellen DeGeneres discovered Charice through the YouTube in 2007 and featured her in her top-rating show.  Charice performed “I Will Always Love You” and “I Am Telling You I’m Not Going.” And what followed is history!

The concert, produced by Xclusive Hits & Events, will be held at the plenary hall of the Philippine International Convention Center. The show is expected to add luster to the stature of the 17-year-old singer as it showcases before local audiences her world-acclaimed talent and style that made her an international talent.

To be directed by Ryan Cayabyab, the show will also feature top local artists and performers Erik Santos, George Yang and the Ryan Cayabyab Singers with the special participation of Ogie Alcasid.

Cayabyab said the concert is a “Charice showcase” that will give Filipino music lovers the chance to see and listen to Charice as she displays her extraordinary prowess live in a formal venue like the PICC through a breathtaking repertoire of pop, R&B and soul hits popularized by Whitney Houston, Celine Dion and Mariah Carey, among others.

Cayabyab added that the show “revolves around the songs which made Charice a formidable talent and which awed the international audiences.” He also stressed that “with the support of Filipino artists singing their signature OPM and international songs – such as Ogie Alcasid, Erik Santos, George Yang and the Ryan Cayabyab Singers, plus top Filipino seasoned musicians – Filipino hearts will swell with pride.”

Mr. Gay World Beauty Pageant

“I endorse a private union contract between two same sex persons but not same sex marriage,” thus declared David Noel Bosley, the country’s representative to the 2010 “Mr. Gay World” beauty pageant which will be held in Oslo, Norway on Feb. 10-14, 2010.

“I am a Catholic,” he stressed. Bosley is the type of a gay who is decent, wholesome and pleasant to talk with. He really deserves to win the gay competition in Oslo, Norway. But even if he does not win, he still deserves to be the spokesperson of the gay sector of the community or nation as a whole.

Asked if he would be supporting a party-list representing the third sex, he said: “I am still a male – in fact all gays are still male. I do not need to have my washroom separated from the male washroom.”

Bosley, who is still in a department store, said that as a representative of the Philippines to the Mr. Gay World competition, he would make the other contestants and delegates become aware of the culture in the Philippines. “That is my advocacy,” he said. “And while there and then back to the Philippines, I will help the people become more aware of the dangers of HIV, and how to prevent one’s self from being contaminated.”

Bosley won the right to represent the Philippines by winning last October 25, 2009 the “Mr. Gay World Philippines” held at the Metro Bar in Quezon City.

“My joining of the Oslo competition is also in preparation for the holding on February 2011 the WMG in the Philippines,” he announced.

From Oslo, Bosley will be recording a dance track as part of a compilation album of one of the finest gay dance clubs in Hong Kong, Volume. The album is produced and directed by the Australian premiere clubber OJ Stonedog. He is also scheduled for a documentary special by Per Buch Larsen of Danish National Broadcast Company on how gays or bisexual men live in the Philippines.

The entourage to Norway includes producers Noemi Alberto, Mac Bordallo, Dennis Sebastian and director Ronald Carballo. They will be with beauty queen-actress Carlene (member of the panel of jurors) and Michael Santos, lead vocalist of the Skabeche band, who will be a guest performer in the competition.

OAFS 10th anniversary performers

Songstress Winnie Castillo, novelty singer Lukas and Erika’s Sexiest Models were guests performers during the Orient Aviation Flying School (OAFS) 10th year anniversary event held last Jan. 10. Alumni of the school who are now professional international pilots attented the occasion. Friends, colleagues and associates of OAFS in the field of Philippine aviation graced the affair.

Elisa dela Cruz-Cadingan, OAFS president and COO and Capt. Romel D. Cadingan hosted the intimate dinner party.

Winnie Castillo sang two Abba hit songs, “Fernando” and “Chiquitita.” Then she paid tribute to outstanding OPM of the ’80s like: “Paano,” “Gaano Kita Kamahal” and “Tukso” popularized by her contemporaries; Dulce, Celeste Legaspi and Eva Eugenio respectively. Winnie’s finale number was the Spanish song “Cucurucucu Paloma,” and all the guests sang with her.

Lukas on the other hand mesmerized the guests with his first song, “You May Be Right,” made famous by Billy Joel. His encore numbers were also well-applauded such as: Rodel Naval’s “Muli” and Michael Laygo’s “Minahal Kita.” But his recorded song aptly titled “Namumuro Ka Na” endeared him to male audiences due to its machismo message.

Erika’s Sexiest Models provided a mini fashion show. Three collections – casual wear, bikinis and evening lingerie – were presented to the delight of the guests.

Ten peso coins in red Chinese envelopes called “ampao” were distributed to all the guests. The P10 coin is symbolic of a decade of progress, service and A-1 performance of the school.
