A rare combination of stars in ‘Love2Love2Love’

This is probably the reason why tickets to this particular show are selling like hotcakes.

Getting two singers to star in one concert is hard to pull off because doing so entails finding a concept that will equally canvass their fortes, making their schedules meet and choosing songs that will allow them to complement, not compete with each other.

So, what more if the show has three stars? Fortunately for the Viva Concerts-produced “Love2Love2Love,” its featured artists Side A, Freestyle and Nina have no problem performing with each other as opposed to one after the other or one versus the other. “This is not a back to back to back show. We’ll be performing together most of the times because we have a common goal: To give the people what they want from start to finish,” said Freestyle vocalist Jinky Vidal.

It’s a rare gig, indeed, since it’s the first time all three will share the stage. Besides, each could have headlined their own concerts if they had wanted. Side A, after all, has been the country’s pop/rock band since the ’80s. They have tons of hits among which are “Tell Me,” “Hold On,” “Forevermore,” “Until Then” and “Tuloy Pa Rin.”

Freestyle, on the other hand, burst into the scene in the ’90s and became one of the biggest pop/R&B bands. Along the way they gave us the smash tunes “So Slow,” “Para Sa Yo,” “Till I Found You,” “Missing You” and their signature hit, “Before I Let You Go.”

As for Soul Siren Nina, there’s no questioning her achievements, too. The only female Diamond Artist in OPM history so far, she made a name for herself via the songs “Jealous,” “Foolish Heart,” “Girl Can Dream,” “Someday” and her phenomenal remake of Julia Fordham’s “Love Moves In Mysterious Ways.”

“We already know what people want but until they watch this show, they’ll never know how these will sound like when the three of us join forces for these. There’ll be duets, we’ll be ‘exchanging’ hit songs and we’ll have medleys so we could perform as many of their favorites as we can,” said Jinky.

Unlike other Valentine shows that cater to specific market, this one by Side A, Nina and Freestyle cast the net far enough to haul in as many people as it can. “Our show will have something for everyone that’s why you can watch it with your date, family, friends and even just by yourself. This show is for anyone who has been in love, who is in love or dreams of falling in love. It’s a romantic show yet a fun one, too,” she added.

“Love2Love2Love” will be held at Araneta Coliseum on Feb. 12.

Victor Aliwalas’ star shines brighter than ever

This year looks even more promising for GMA Artist Center (GMAAC)’s resident heartthrob Victor Aliwalas.

The commercial and print model, host and actor has been slowly but surely making his presence felt. Victor is beginning to be a byword in the soap opera department.

Victor Aliwalas came to the Philippines in August of 2007 for a vacation. “My parents, they’re part of a Fil-Am association back in the States, and we organize a lot of events there. I modeled a barong in one of those events and one designer told me I can be a model or an artista here which I thought was just said because he was being nice.”

Victor was signed up by GMA Artist Center soon after and was cast immediately in the Marian Rivera-Dingdong Dantes pilot team-up “Marimar.” Victor, a newbie in the acting department, started learning the ropes of the trade in this show. He was then given roles in “Gaano Kadalas Ang Minsan,” “Totoy Bato,” “SRO Cinemaserye,” and the current soaps “Tinik sa Dibdib,” “Kaya Kong Abutin Ang Langit,” and “Full House.”

In the movies, he tried his hands in indie film “Tutok” and “Yaya And Angelina: The Movie.”

Just recently, Victor was handpicked by the Korea Model Associations and other huge modeling and management agencies in Korea to be the male recipient of Model Star Award (along with co-GMAAC talent Rhian Ramos) in the Philippines given at the 2010 Asia Model Festival Awards held in Incheon, Seoul, Korea last Jan. 15.

Victor is also one of the faces in the PLDT MyDSL’s crew, and he has an online show called myFitness for the Watchpad portal under MyView Channel. He talks about getting fit and keeping an active lifestyle.
