President Arroyo is beaming with pride that one of the best animated picture nominees in the 82nd Annual Academy Awards in Hollywood next month was made in the Philippines.

The President, addressing the 10th e-Services Global Sourcing Conference at the SMX Convention Center at the Mall of Asia in Pasay City last Tuesday, said the animated comedy film "Up" was a product of the country's booming information technology-business process outsourcing (IT-BPO) industry, particularly the high value-added segment of animation. She urged to public to watch the movie.

“Now the market is also moving our services towards the higher value added segments of the offshoring and outsourcing industries, namely: the non-voice critical business processes such as software development, engineering design, game development, animation and knowledge process outsourcing. For instance, in animation, don’t fail to see the upcoming animated film ‘Up,’ proudly Filipino-made," she said in her remarks.

The animated comedy adventure "Up" produced by Disney-Pixar has joined the list of nominees for best animated picture in the prestigious Oscar awards.

"Up," which recently won the Golden Globe for best animated feature, is one of the various animated films and TV series produced by talented Filipino animators employed in the back offices of big movie studios abroad.
