Last week was a devoted gamer’s dream come true as Dell launched its collaboration with Alienware in the form of M11x, the most powerful 11-inch laptop in the universe!

It was first seen at CES 2010 last January gaining awards such as CNET’s award for the Best Gaming Product and Award for the Best Computer given by the IGN. Since then, the buzz of excitement has intensified as the much anticipated and extremely portable gaming laptop comes to life.

With dimensions of 11.25” x 9.19” x 1.29”, the M11x comes in a compact, rugged yet stylish laptop. Its iconic industrial design details will surely stand out in the crowd.

Its stylish flair exudes even if you bring the games in the dark thanks to its firey-red backlight keyboard, but beneath that style and portability is power.

M11x can “harness the graphics power of a 15-inch laptop in an 11-inch design”. It is powerful, compact and lightweight weighing in at just about 4.5 pounds.

Gamers and non-gamers alike can experience games, movies, recorded television, or any other visual digital media in a crisp and WLED High-Definition widescreen “edge-to-edge” 720p display wherever they go. It is definitely a perfect “on-the-go companion” without literally weighing you down.

What makes the M11x unique is its dual graphics system where users can actively switch between its CPU’s integrated processor and its high-powered NVIDIA GPU.

Switching from a high-intensity graphics mode to low will only take around 2 seconds and it is done easily by just pressing Fn+F6. You do not have to reboot or log off. Switch it back and you can again enjoy a high definition gaming experience with high frame rates.

On a low-graphics mode or with regular laptop use, the M11x can achieve up to 6 hours of battery life while switching to 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 335M will give you 2 hours of “intense gaming”.

Of course, results will still vary depending on which feature you concentrate or leave on, but in general its battery life is more than enough to last you through hours and hours of travel.

The M11x is equipped with Intel Core2Duo SU7300 (1.3 Ghz, 800 MHz, 3 MB) processor and memory of up to 8GB DDR3 1066MHz. It comes with a display port/HDMI up to 52” – video output so that you can level up to a larger monitor or even connect to HDTV’s.

It includes 3 hi-speed USB 2.0 ports, 3-in-1 media card reader and IEEE 1394a (4-pin) port for high-speed communication and data transfer.

Once again, Dell has delivered its commitment of providing superior technology and with the Alienware M11x it has redefined the essence of mobile gaming.

With its style, portability, impressive battery life and most of all its utmost power, it has kept up with Alienware’s mantra of “Built by gamers, for gamers”.
