MYMP’s pre-Valentine show
With a new talent fresh from Davao City, the “MYMP Now: Prouder Than Ever,” is presenting a pre-Valentine show at the Music Museum on Friday, Feb. 12.
The new talent is a young and charming woman, Juliet Bahala, who has already won at least two grand prizes in singing competitions. Juliet was the NCCC Star of Davao 2007 Grand Champion and the National Music Competition for Young Artists 2005 Grand Prize Winner!
Juliet will be MYMP’s newest voice with the same distinct voice like the band’s former singers, Nina and Juris Fernandez. Juliet is a great talent from Davao with a very powerful voice that can belt out even the most challenging songs of divas like Mariah Carey and Beyoncé.
“I will do everything possible that can help improve my performance,” Juliet said during a press interview. “It’s all a matter of discipline and focus.”
The MYMP (Make Your Momma Proud), headed by Chin Alcantara has already garnered, after 14 years, five wonderful albums and 11 platinum awards. It was originally an all-male band, now with new members.
Chin Alcantara is still the band’s lead guitarist giving that distinct MYMP sound. Other members of the band are keyboardist Hanche Mikoyan Bobis who has been with the band since 1998. Hanche also played for the Elements and Fairground bands. He also played for the Diamond-selling album “Nina Live” and “Christian Bautista Live” album. Jefferson Lima, drummer, and Bern Hardt Cuevas, bassist.
To savor the band’s distinct music, catch them at their pre-Valentine show, on Friday, Feb. 12 at the Music Museum.

David Pomeranz and John Ford Coley?
We’ve all heard of England Dan and John Ford Coley, right? I mean, who hasn’t.
If you grew up in the ’70s, as well as the ’80s, listening to the radio, more so than not, you’ve heard an England Dan and John Ford Coley hit, and you probably never knew about it. Timeless classics like the bittersweet “It’s Sad To Belong,” or the hopeful heart tug of “I’d Really Love To See You Tonight,” or the mournfully melancholic “Nights Are Forever Without You,” and more.
Lamentably, (England) Dan Seals passed on to the big concert stage in the sky sometime last year, leaving John Ford Coley all by his lonesome. Until now.
So what’s this we hear about David Pomeranz and John Ford Coley?
I’m sure your reaction would be “Whoa! David Pomeranz? Mr. “Born For You?” The genius behind classic loves songs such as “King And Queen Of Hearts,” “Got To Believe In Magic” and made us all swoon with “The Old Songs?”
And is it true he is partnering up with John Ford Coley?
In a way, they are.
John Ford Coley takes center stage once again, first with local Pop chanteuse Faith Cuneta at the Hyatt Hotel Ballroom on Feb. 13, and with special guest David Pomeranz at the Heritage Hotel Ballroom on Feb. 18. It’s the perfect Valentine’s foil for all. Hear all the hits, and then some, as Coley pulls an ace out of his sleeve. John is recording his latest album “Timeless Love Songs” set for world release later this year, right here in the Philippines with Pinoy musicians and singers including Faith Cuneta, Ciara Sotto, Lenny de Jesus, Carlo Gaa, among others.
This year’s Asian Tour is called “Timeless Love” and will spotlight on all the immortal love songs of England Dan and John Ford Coley like “Just Tell Me You Love Me,” “Sad to Belong,” “I’d Really Love to See You Tonight,” “Love is the Answer,” “We’ll Never Have to Say Goodbye Again,” “Soldier in the Rain,” “Nights are Forever,” “Where Do I Go From Here,” “Gone Too Far,” “What Can I Do With a Broken Heart” and more, plus classics like “Longer,” “Leader of the Band,” “Make It With You,” “Sometimes When We Touch,” and many more.
As in most Steve O’neal promoted concerts, both dinner shows at Hyatt Hotel & Casino and Heritage Hotel Ballrooms include a full course dinner with drink at the very friendly Valentine price of P3,500 (plus tax). Tickets for the Hyatt show on Feb. 13 with special guest Faith Cuneta are available at the Hyatt Hotel & Casino Concierge, Pagcor Hyatt, Italiannis, Ayala Malls, Robinsons Malls, National Bookstores and Ticketworld outlets.
Tickets for the Heritage show on Feb. 18 featuring David Pomeranz and special guest Ciara Sotto are available at Heritage Hotel & Casino concierge, Riviera Coffee Shop, Pagcor Heritage, Ayala Malls, Robinsons Malls, National Bookstores and Ticketworld outlets.
