A total of 60 solar-powered water dispenser were turned over to the Provincial Government of Albay for the use especially of those who were evacuated due to the continuous restiveness of the Mayon Volcano, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said. DILG Secretary Benjamin ‘Benhur’ Abalos Jr.  said four field service vehicles which included military and multi-purpose vehicles, mini-fire trucks and an ambulance, were also provided to Albay through the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA). The MMDA-assistance was coursed through Community Coordinator Officer Allan N. Longcop and 20 of his members to the Albay provincial government. In a statement, the DILG stated that the water purifiers will be used “to ensure the safety of water systems in the evacuation centers in Albay, which have been affected by the ongoing seismic activity of Mayon Volcano.’’ The four field service vehicles, meanwhile, will be utilized to support the delivery of relief goods and other assistance to the affected communities. The DILG noted that the agency is working with other agencies like the MMDA to ensure that the affected communities in Albay receive the necessary assistance. In addition, the DILG turned over 6,400 additional face masks to the provincial government of Albay that will be distributed to evacuation centers in the province affected by the volcanic activities from Mayon Volcano. DILG 5 Regional Director Arnaldo E. Escober Jr. personally turned over the face masks to the provincial government as Lagman expressed his utmost gratitude for the continuous provision of aid from the various national government agencies. The recent Mayon Volcano unrest forced thousands of local residents to flee their homes with the government providing them with food, water and shelter in the evacuation centers.
