84 live-in couples say ‘I do’ in Mandaluyong
It’s not too late to get married and celebrate Valentine's Day altogether.
This message reverberated in Mandaluyong City last Monday as 84 live-in couples were legally married after participating in the annual Valentine's Day mass wedding activity held at the City Hall grounds.
Among the participants, partners Arturo Gojar and Merlinda Llamera, who have been living together for over 34 years with five kids, can now officially call themselves husband and wife.
84 nutri-cake rolls, chiffon cakes which contained malunggay leaves, were lined up to form the shape of a heart which the newly-weds simultaneously cut and ate. Each couple was also given a wedding reception held at the Kaban ng Hiyas building free of charge
The activity, initiated by the Kababaihan Kakaiba ng Mandaluyng, chaired by Mandaluyong First Lady Menchie Abalos, aims to help and promote live-in partners to get legally married for free.
