Global banking and payments tech provider opens Manila service center

In a bid to reinforce its leadership in Asia, FIS, one of the world’s largest providers of banking and payments technology, launched a new service center in Manila Tuesday and plans to increase its Filipino workers from 150 to 1,000 in the next 18 months.

FIS new facility will furnish call center, back office processing and data center services for both local and international clients.

“We believe there is great opportunity for the BPO industry and we are excited about the marketplace in the Philippines,” declared Ram Chary, executive vice president of FIS Global Commercial Services division.

“FIS strategy is to continue to build upon our past success in this business in the U.S., India and Brazil and actively participate in the economic development of the region by adding more jobs here,” he confirmed.

FIS established its Manila office in 1993 and has been providing banking and payments technologies to six of the top ten banks in the Philippines and other domestic financial institutions for over 20 years.
The company is a leading provider of core banking solutions in North America, Europe and Asia, with 27 strategic operating centers outside of the United States.

It has processing and technology relationships with 40 of the top 50 global banks, including nine of the top 10. Furthermore, it supports more than 14,000 financial institutions in over 100 countries through its global workforce of more than 30,000 people.

FIS financial technology solutions support more than 2,600 core processing customers, processing more than 320 million items through its branch capture network and new account risk management. It also provides deposit screening services to more than 8,700 financial institutions.

Globally, FIS supports more than 70 million credit card accounts, nine million loyalty accounts, 125 million debit cards, 301,500 ATMs and nearly two million POS locations through its NYCE EFT/PIN-debit network.

The company is at the forefront of the Loyalty market with more than 6,000 debit, credit and checking account loyalty and rewards programs. FIS processes nearly 200 million prepaid cards annually and processed more than 280 million e-bill payment in 2008.
