The allowance is for the students’ miscellaneous and other school fees. This is on top of the tuition fee subsidy of up to P18,000 that the city government shoulders for elementary school graduates who want to continue their education at a partner private high school.
The TLC scholarship program, a project of Mayor Lani Cayetano, now has 56 partner schools in Taguig.
“Gusto ko sana na kayo ang maging role model ng ibang mga kabataan. Gusto ko na kapag nakikita kayo ng ibang bata na kasing edad ninyo sa inyong community, magiging mabuting ehemplo kayo ng mahusay, responsable, at magalang na kabataan (I wish that you will be the role model of other youth. I wish that when other children of your age see you in your community, you will be a good example as a great, responsible and polite youth),” said Cayetano during the distribution held at the Taguig City University Auditorium.
According to Grade 7 student Joshua Bibit from HSL Braille College, "Napakalaking tulong po ito dahil wala na po iisipin sa pagbili ng school materials at iba pa pong kailangan sa aming pag-aaral (This is a great help because I will no longer think about buying school materials and other needs at our school).”
