Gretchen Barretto received a very expensive 16th anniversary present from her long time partner, billionaire businessman Tonyboy Cojuangco: a sports car.

This the former bold star herself crowed in an interview aired on "Showbiz News Ngayon," last February 17. Gretchen said that she tried to reciprocate the gesture but the businessman declined.

“He wanted a massage chair. Nakita daw niya sa golf club. Sabi ko sa kanya, '[if] you want [it], I’ll get it for you,'” La Greta said.

“Siguro nahiya siya sa akin. Ayaw niyang gumastos ako. Alam niya I work hard for my money.”

Gretchen disclosed how else she plans to celebrate their anniversary in the coming days.

“Punta kami ng Hong Kong. I don’t know, maybe I’ll give him a watch or something,” she said.

Gretchen and Tonyboy aren’t the only ones going to the former Crown Colony. They're bringing Dominique, their daughter.

“Kasama namin ang anak (Dominique) ko, hindi namin (siya) iniiwan.”

Answering insinuations regarding her alleged indiscretions, Gretchen joked that Tonyboy is always on his guard nowadays.

“Hindi na ako iniiwan niyan. Bantay-sarado (na ako),” she said with a laugh.

Gretchen will soon grace the small screen via a soap with Bea Alonzo and Derek Ramsay. She and Bea will play sisters. Derek will essay the role of her lover.

Originally, it was her real-life sister Claudine who was supposed to play the role Bea was given. It had to be scrapped after Claudine signed up with ABS-CBN’s rival, GMA-7.
