Stars and Politics: Judy Ann on endorsements; Richard Gomez on his residency
Judy Ann Santos’ lesson learned on endorsing politicians
While she was “deeply hurt” with presidential candidate Jamby Madrigal’s remark that she regretted getting her services, Judy Ann Santos shared the valuable lesson she learned from what happened:
"Siguro nga tama na bago ka mag-endorso ng isang pulitiko, kilala mo siya mula ulo hanggang paa, bilang tao na magseserbisyo sa Pilipinas. At alam mo na siya o kilala mo na siya bago pa siya mangampanya," she said on “Startalk.”
She added: “Hindi po lahat ng artista mukhang pera.”
Meanwhile, the young superstar is excited for her trip abroad with hubby Ryan Agoncillo. The showbiz power couple is set to leave on April for three weeks, thereby hitting their first wedding anniversary.
But Juday said that the trip will be more of a vacation rather than a honeymoon, as they have been working non-stop after they got married April of 2009.
“Relax lang ho talaga. No particular plans, no itinerary na susundan. Ganun naman kami ni Ryan, whatever works. Hindi naman kami ‘yong couple na ma-plano eh,” said Juday.
Richard Gomez files motion for reconsideration
Congressional aspirant Richard Gomez has filed his motion for reconsideration at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Feb. 20 regarding his disqualification to run in the fourth district of Ormoc, Leyte for “lack of residency.”
He brought with him supporting documents that would prove he indeed is a certified resident of his wife Lucy Torres’ hometown since March 2007, as well as the petition signed by 20,000 Ormoc residents in support of his candidacy.
In an interview on “Startalk,” the actor reiterated that he “never voted dito sa Mandaluyong,” and “’yong bahay namin sa Greenhills, bahay namin dahil nagtatrabaho kami dito sa Maynila.”
His legal counsel also clarified that the Comelec decision is not yet final.
“Hindi ko sila (people of Ormoc) puwedeng iwanan. Ipagpapatuloy ko ‘yong laban hanggang sa matapos ‘to,” Richard said of his “kababayans.”
There may be alleged threats for his life from his opponent, but Richard believes “protektado ako ng Diyos.”
“Delikado kasi marami silang mga goons-goons dito [sa Ormoc] pero nag-iingat naman ako.”
