The Contact Center Association of the Philippines (CCAP), the biggest group of call center operators in the country, is renouncing its ties as an industry partner of the Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP).

This is according to a top officer of CCAP, who said that it is only a matter of time before the organization’s departure is formally communicated to the BPAP leadership.

The CCAP official said group has reached a consensus to bolt BPAP but has deferred in announcing the decision pending the results of the votes from the CCAP board members.

He said there are a number of reasons why the group is leaving BPAP, but the primary basis of the split is CCAP’s desire to independently pursue its projects.

CCAP is one of the five the industry association members of BPAP, which is the umbrella organization of all BPO groups in the country. Other associations under BPAP include PSIA (Philippine Software Industry Association), ACPI (Animation Council of the Philippines Inc.), GDAP (Game Developers Association of the Philippines) and MTIAPI (Medical Transcription Industry Association of the Philippines Inc.).

The representatives of each industry sit as board members of BPAP.

Unlike other professional organizations, BPAP is run like a private company with its own chief executive officer, Oscar Sanez, who is a former country manager for Australia of Procter & Gamble. Its funds come mainly from membership dues and occasional grants from various entities, including the government. It has more than 200 company members.

Martin Crisostomo, external relations director of BPAP, said the group has not received any word yet concerning CCAP’s impending withdrawal.
