SAN FERNANDO, La Union — Senator Richard “Dick” Gordon said Monday he is bringing his campaign directly to the people to make up for the lack of political advertisements in what he called the most media-intensive presidential campaign ever.

"Many times I'm frustrated because my rivals have lots of money for their advertisements and they're always seen on TV without really having anything to say," Gordon, who is running for president under the Bagumbayan Party, said.

One of Gordon's staff said he will make more visits to public markets, presidential forums and festivals than his rivals so he can keep up with their presidential campaigns powered by expensive advertising.

Gordon continues to lag behind in surveys three weeks into the official campaign period, compared to his rivals, Senators Manny Villar and Noynoy Aquino, who both enjoy 100 percent awareness among the people that they are running for president.

But Gordon said Villar and Aquino will be in for a big surprise in the "only relevant survey on election day."

He claimed to have converted almost everybody that has heard his plans on how to transform the people and government to make them more productive and, consequently, improve the economy and the quality of life.

"They'll be in for a big surprise, those who spend a lot of money for advertisements and those who bank on their surnames. Because when people look at our track records they become converts right away and they tell us," Gordon said.

Gordon said he plans to revive the sense of country among the people, and encourage them to assert their rights to strive for a better life and hold their officials accountable for scandals in government.

Bayani Fernando, Gordon’s running mate, is campaigning under a platform of using political will to enforce the laws and put up important projects like a national railway.
