Text2Teach empower public school learning in Dagupan City
Globe continues to utilize its superior mobile phone technology in uplifting education especially in the countryside with the recent launch of the Text2Teach project in eleven public elementary schools in Dagupan City.
Globe in partnership with other Text2Teach consortium members which include Ayala Foundation, Nokia, Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Center for Educational Innovation and Technology (SEAMEO INNOTECH) and the Department of Education is beefing up the learning environment of Dagupan elementary schools with the community launch of the Text2Teach program in Dagupan City. Globe is the sole telecom service provider for Text2Teach.
“Knowledge is increasingly becoming the most important currency today and modern technology is a tool that helps transfer, share and apply that knowledge.
"With Text2Teach, Globe strengthens its commitment to use its superior mobile technology to educate and empower young Filipino students,” said Globe President and CEO Ernest Cu.
The eleven schools that received Text2Teach technology included West Central Elementary School, Lucao Elementary School, Juan L. Siapno Elementary, East Central School, Carangalan Elementary, Bolosan Elementary, Victoria Q. Zarate Elementary, Leon Francisco Maramba Elementary, Juan P. Guadiz Elementary, Carael Elementary, and Calmay Elementary.
The launch and turnover ceremony was held at the Dagupan City Museum. Each of the recipient schools received a Text2Teach package which included a Nokia mobile phone pre-loaded with more than 380 educational audio and video materials, a Globe prepaid SIM card, a 29-inch color TV, and teachers guide.
Globe will provide P150 monthly load allowance for one year to be used for helpdesk concerns and an additional P1,000 load if there are new or updated materials to be downloaded through the mobile phones using their 3G network.
