Agents of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) seized more than P4.2 million of shabu which was attempted to be smuggled into the country by hiding it inside two oven toasters that arrived at the Port of Clark on June 27.
In a statement, the BOC said the shipment came from the United States and were declared “stainless steel two slice bread toaster”.

But the 614 grams of shabu were discovered during the conduct of X-ray and subsequent physical examination in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA). A field testing was conducted on the substance through a Raman Rigaku Spectrometer which yielded positive reading for “Methamphetamine”.

Samples were turned over to the PDEA for chemical laboratory analysis, which later confirmed the contraband as shabu. A Warrant of Seizure and Detention was immediately issued against the shipment after finding probable cause for violation of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
