40 more cops have COVID, bringing number of infected PNP personnel to 6,030
Forty more policemen have contracted COVID-19, bringing the total number of infected Philippine National Police personnel to 6,030.
Data from the PNP Health Service as of Thursday night showed that most of the new infections were recorded in the National Capital Region Police Office and Police Regional Office-Cordillera with eight cases each.
They were followed by National Operational Support Units with six cases; National Administrative Support Units with five; Central Luzon Police Regional Office (PRO-3) with four; Northern Mindanao Police Regional Office (PRO-10) with three; and Zamboanga Peninsula Police Regional Office (PRO-9) with two.
One case each was noted in Ilocos Police Regional Office, Calabarzon Police Regional Office (PRO 4-A), Bicol Police Regional Office (PRO-5), and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Police Regional Office (PRO-BARMM).
The PNP Health Service said of the 6,030 cases, 19.4 percent or 1,170 remain active.
About 80.32 percent or 4,843 personnel successfully recovered while 0.28 percent or 17 personnel died.
The PNP has many personnel who have COVID-19 primarily because of their deployment in the frontlines to combat the pandemic.
A policemen infected by COVID-19 has to undergo the mandatory 14-day quarantine in an isolation facility before being tested for a second swab test. Once cleared, a recovered PNP personnel has to rest for seven to 10 more days before he is allowed to report back to duty.
