The motorsports season begins with a roar Sunday when the Race Motorsports Club National Slalom Series opens shop at the McKinley Piazza Mall open grounds in Makati City.

Incorporated in the “Love Machines, Car Lovers Unite” wherein all other motorsports disciplines will also be held, the first leg, also a fund-raising event for Kookie Ramires, is open to all slalom enthusiasts.

Special discounts for newcomers and car clubs are offered in this event which is affiliated with the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP) and FIA.

Expected to see action in the series sponsored by Federal Tyres, Shell Helix Motor Oils, Outlast Battery, Fuji Film, Silverwind Magwheels, Tripnotic Lab Creative Media Experiments, Forsc Ink Mobile System, Starbright Body Kits, Stoplight TV, Wave 89.1, Chequered Flag Magazine, C Magazine and Wheel to Wheel Magazine are last year’s Club Slalom Series champions headed by Dr. Peewee Mendiola of Big Chill Team and drivers from Team Pongs Racing Team, Cabanatuan Auto Club, Auto Fastion led by Ernie Moreno, Chasers Racing Team of Reymund de Vera, T Factory headed by Donbert Bumatay, Jomag Racing Team of Ezik Ulanday, Speed Syndicate Team, Cyril Group Company Team, C Auto Perfomance Team, Grupo Toyota Team, Toolbox Racing Team, DKC Racing Team headed by Arnel Carlos and Nino Sarte and the different clubs of Metro Manila.

Other legs are set on March 28, June 20, October 10, November 7, and December 5 at the Robinson’s Nova, April 10 (Summer Nationals) in San Fernando, La Union; April 18 at Robinson’s Pampanga, June 20 at Robinson’s Sta. Rosa, July 18 and November 21 at SM City Sucat, August 8 at the Enchanted Kingdom, and September 5 at SM Southmall.

As an affiliate of the AAP, all participants will be issued a Clubman license which will include AAP membership with all benefits and privileges. And to be a National Champion, contenders must be using the Specified Federal Tyres in 75% of the series or nine legs.

Registration starts at 8 a.m. and the official runs will begin at 11 o’clock. Free slalom clinic from 9 to 10 a.m. will also be held.
