ABS-CBN Global continues to lead innovation in the service of Filipinos worldwide in 2010, expressing confidence in its capability to quickly adapt to the changing needs and lifestyle of the Filipino overseas market.

Through its flagship program, The Filipino Channel (TFC), ABS-CBN Global ensures more Pinoys abroad get to watch the latest news and best entertainment in ways that are most convenient and most enjoyable to them.

“After 15 years of dedicated service, we move closer to our vision of making TFC available in every Filipino home. Because we have come to know and understand our customers better, we have made TFC available in various platforms such as satellite, cable, video-on-demand, the internet, and mobile phones. We hope that by providing our subscribers with various options in enjoying TFC, we are able to give them more opportunities to feel closer to home,” ABS-CBN Global COO Raffy Lopez said.

Last year, TFC on mobile was launched in Japan after ABS-CBN Global partnered with communication service provider ISAO Corporation and Entak Incorporated. Japan became the second area worldwide to offer TFC on mobile phones, after the Middle East. TFC on mobile provides subscribers access to high quality video streaming on their cellular phones, using a new technology that also prevents unlawful production of content.

Prior to its launch on cellular phones, TFC has also been offered in broadband via TFC’s internet protocol TV or IPTV service. Designed for Filipinos who wish to watch their favorite TV shows at their convenience, a special IPTV box gives subscribers full control over what they want to see. They can pause, rewind and fast forward the show they are watching, and even have a marathon viewing of the teleseryes they missed, thus getting viewing pleasure without interruptions.

Another innovation that ABS-CBN Global introduced is TFC on the Worldwide Web which offers Filipinos ubiquitous access to their favorite shows from ABS-CBN, ANC, DZMM, and Tambayan 101.9. Through this, Global Pinoys are able to enjoy TFC in their home computer, laptop, or at any internet café wherever they are in the world. “We know our kapamilyas worldwide are into different situations. Some have broken work schedules; others are stay-at-home housewives, while some are always on the go. By continuously innovating and keeping up with new technology, we know we are able to better serve and reach out to them,” Mr. Lopez added.

ABS-CBN Global continues its legacy of pushing the boundaries in technology to bring overseas kababayans closer to home. In 2010, ABS-CBN Global commits to crossing more boundaries in the service of Filipinos worldwide.
