Metro Corner: Believe it or not?
The sister of a “presidentiable” has promised that if or when her brother is elected on May 10, she intends (did we get it right?) to go to a country where the Filipino channel is offered? Is she going abroad? That is the first believe it or not question in the public mind.
Sources, however, within the TV network she works for, claim she may be given a talk show? Or a public affairs program with a credible tandem or solo post election quarter. This will usher her persona, like fish into water, into the kind of gabfest she is controversially known for. And if the public still seems unable to identify who this corner is referring to, well, her adlib parts in other shows, have been publicly cited and curtailed by said giant network for partisan comments. What Comelec is not aware of, and the so-called ethics watchdog of the concerned network (or
they simply just allow her like an owner?) is that in her new talent show, in between taping “when the cameras are not rolling” she has openly urged the audience to, you guessed it, vote for her brother. And, if her brother succeeds, do we hear 2013 for the Senate and 2016 for President? Believe or not?

Retired AFP officers with active counterparts having coffee concluded, there is a great possibility of military unrest, slash, coups, reprised circa post 1986-91 under the same genealogical administration, if elected?
The light banter circled around the real story (Manoling Morato’s version is more colorful) of why and how some of the Presidential Security Guards tasked to bodyguard the “unico hijo” were killed simply because a frustrated “Rambo” fanatic, was fearless in his attempt to confront the entire RAM coup versus the yellow government? The question is, could deep-seated resentments for the man in uniform still exist to this day, after the unforgettable experience?
Coupled with the 1983 Tarmac assassination? If this candidate was in the private sector, he would not be the subject of this column. Leniency could be gratuitously granted if he was just aspiring to be a low level politician. The problem begins when the very office he seeks has a concomitant responsibility, of equal standing, to be Commander-in-Chief. And so we need pose the query of his perception and understanding of such crucial role specially when the spectre of insurgency, terrorism, and separatism is a very real threat. Will he, like his mother, release all the top rebel leaders again or grant them amnesty?
But believe it or not, one of his advisers in the now infamous or acclaimed (take your pick) “Hyatt 10” is reported officially surveying vast tracks of land in Mindanao claimed by the “Lumads,” as well, territory with resources, demanded by the Moro Islamic Liberation Front. The presidential silver-bullet to peace under this Administration is to give away territory or parts thereof of the Philippine Republic to both. Believe it or not?

The suspicion is, if true, that cracks are beginning to appear within the “principled” Liberal Party. The bickering is all about strategy and who among the many campaign chefs should have the authority or privilege to put the various condiments to boil the best political broth for their standard bearer? It is open secret that factions in the party are generally divided between the old Mar for President and the Aquino fanatics. This is further chopped into civil society, Hyatt 10, etc. and Kamag-anak Inc. The rut and factional elbowing is in the erratic survey standings of Nonoy and how Mar is able to enjoy a wide and steady lead.
