Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 lives up to the hype

While other phone manufacturers released products left and right in the past weeks, our eyes were on the Sony Ericsson's Xperia X10. I've seen it on YouTube, and drooled over it, that's why when I got the chance to hold it, I was really reluctant to let it go. It's one of the best phones I've seen that combines powerful hardware and impressive range of software enhancements.
The Xperia X10 is Sony Ericsson's first ever Android powered phone. It features a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 32GB internal memory, 4-inch capacitive touchscreen display, 8.1 megapixel autofocus camera with touch focus, LED flash, geo tagging and image/video stabilizer.
Like any other Sony Ericsson devices, the X10 has an excellent implementation of its media player supporting all the major music formats.
What makes it different and way better than any Android powered phone available today is the software application called UX or user experience platform that manages all communication, social networking, photos, videos, and music content in the device.
With Timescape, you can now see all your updates on Facebook, emails and text mesages in one place and in chronological order. You can also click the infinite button to aggregate all interactions with one person in one view.
The Mediascape, on the other hand, gets all the the music, photos and videos from your friends and favorite artists, accessing contents from phone, internet and PlayNow and shows everything to you on the screen.
One unique X10 feature that I did not get to try is the Intelligent face recognition capability.
Maurice Van Tholen Sony Ericsson's Head of Consumer Portfolio Management said that it could recognize up to five faces in any picture and could automatically connect them with your phonebook and all other related communications with that person.
Consider the following XPERIA X10 Specs:
Size - 119.0 x 63.0 x 13.0 mm 4.7 x 2.5 x 0.5 inches
Weight - 135.0 gr 4.8 oz
Screen - 480 x 854 pixels WVGA 16,536 color TFT touchscreen.Memory - Phone memory 1GB; SanDisk microSD up to 16GB, 8GB included
Available colors - Sensuous Black, Luster White
It was a short-lived affair with the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10, as I had to rush back to other pressing matters (you know, so many gadgets, so little time).
But it was one heck of an experience to be one of the first to handle the XPERIA X10, so I'm going back for more.
