Police seized more than P850,000 worth of alleged shabu from 10 suspects in several buy-bust operations in Quezon City on Saturday, July 15 and Sunday, July 16.
Lt. Col. Richard Mepania, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Project 6 Station (PS 15) commander, identified the first suspect as Reynold Garcia, 47.
Garcia was arrested in a buy-bust operation launched by the PS 16 along Road 23, Barangay Bahay Toro, Quezon City at around 10 p.m. on July 15.
Authorities confiscated 15 grams of shabu valued at P102,000 and the buy-bust money from the suspect.
Members of the QCPD District Drug Enforcement Unit (DDEU) also nabbed Tulawie Samad, 33, in another buy-bust operation in Barangay Katipunan on the same day. The entrapment operation against the suspect was conducted along Roosevelt Avenue in the said barangay at around 2 a.m. on Sunday, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA). A police officer posed as a buyer and bought P35,000 worth of shabu from the suspect which led to his arrest. Seized from Samad were 100 grams of shabu worth P680,000, a cellular phone, a red sling bag, and the buy-bust money. Meanwhile, the DDEU also collared a woman who yielded P68,000 worth of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation held beside a gasoline station along Congressional Ave., Brgy. Culiat, Quezon City. The suspect, identified as Claudine Rivera, 30, was arrested at around 9 p.m. on Saturday. Also confiscated from the suspect were a green coin purse, a cellular phone, and the buy-bust money. Operatives from the QCPD Batasan Station (PS 6), Cubao Station (PS 7), and Anonas Station (PS 9) also arrested seven alleged drug suspects and confiscated P34,000 worth of alleged shabu and several drug paraphernalia in three buy-bust operations in their areas on Saturday and Sunday. The suspects will be charged for violation of R.A. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office, police said.
