Future scientists choose ‘Gibo’
Scholars from the country’s premier science high school — the Philippine Science High School (PSHS) on Agham Road, Quezon City — said Tuesday that Lakas-Kampi-CMD presidential candidate Gilberto “Gibo” Teodoro Jr. is the best choice for their future, a survey conducted by students showed.
“They may not yet be voters, but like all other Filipinos they are stakeholders in next May’s elections. These PSHS students are keenly aware and capable of separating the chaff from the grain when it comes to a candidate’s qualifications,” Teodoro campaign spokesman Atty. Mike Toledo said.
The PSHS main campus admits only about 2 percent of an average of 18,000 applicants from the country’s Top 10 students based on a student’s academic performance and potential.
Toledo said: “Like others supporting Gibo, the students are aware of the implications on their future of a wrong choice in the elections by those who are old enough to vote.”
Teodoro emerged as the runaway choice by students in a mock election participated in by about 300 students. More than half (54 percent) of the votes cast were garnered by Teodoro followed by Noynoy Aquino at 19 percent; and Dick Gordon at 12 percent.
The mock poll was conducted during a whole-day student program in PSHS advocating responsible voting.
Called Tugon, the whole-day program was aimed at inculcating a conscious sense of responsibility in the PSHS students for the coming elections.
Tugon was undertaken by Aksis, the official science club of PSHS.
