TESDA-BOSCH Partnership: TESDA and Robert Bosch, Inc. have renewed their partnership in human resource development in the construction industry.

One of the training partnership projects between TESDA and a private company is with Robert Bosch, Inc., Philippine flagship of Robert Bosch GmbH (Germany).

TESDA co-signed a memorandum of agreement with Bosch to formally engage both organizations in providing advanced automotive training courses for skilled Filipino mechanics and technicians.

Under the agreement, Bosch will provide TESDA with international standard training modules.

Signatories to the agreement were Bosch president and managing director Roland Odenthal and former TESDA Director General, Secretary Augusto Boboy Syjuco, who was represented by executive director Ernesto Beltran. Also present at the signing at the German Club in Makati City were Mutafa Sed, local GM for automotive aftermarket, and Michael Goh, GM for aftersales service and diagnostics (Bosch South East Asia).

TRAINING FOR WORKSHOP OWNERS

To address the increasing need for more efficient transportation in the Philippines and Asia, Odenthal said that “automotive workshops must be equipped with the proper equipment, service technology and most importantly – skilled personnel.”

Through TESDA’s network of some 120 schools and training institutions in the country, the program also provides access for workshop owners and operators to receive the same certificate courses that are recognized in over 12,000 workshops in the Bosch service networks worldwide.

Courses offered under the TESDA-Bosch program are gasoline and diesel fuel injection technology, and calibration and repair of electronically-controlled diesel injection pumps, which is exclusive to Bosch in the Philippines.

Last month, TESDA provided free training in automotive servicing to some 40 underprivileged resident beneficiaries of the Don Bosco Boys Home in Cebu City. The trainees, after their skills certification by TESDA, will be absorbed as apprentices by Bosch car service partners in Cebu City and Mandaue City for their hands-on training.

Truly, the TESDA-Bosch partnership will help enhance the Filipino skilled workforce in the auto services industry through international standard training courses.
