Every year thousands of nurses go to foreign countries, drawn by higher incomes and better opportunities for professional growth. The exodus of nurses has made it imperative for our training institutions to continually develop nursing professionals to meet the needs of our own people.

Apart from the educational institutions, this task of continuous professional development rests with the professional organizations, one of which has been active in ensuring continuous learning for nurses – the Association of Nursing Service Administrators of the Philippines (ANSAP). The organization, composed of nursing service directors, chief nurses, and other supervising nurses, was formed in 1967. ANSAP members are the ones who maintain the efficiency and effectiveness of all nurses in the many hospitals and health care institutions in the country.

ANSAP will hold Friday its Annual Convention at the historic landmark Manila Hotel with the theme “A Purpose Driven Change to a Responsive Nursing Service Administration.” The convention emphasizes the core value in the nursing profession – service to its clients. Several technical sessions will be held during the convention.

We congratulate the Association of Nursing Service Administrators of the Philippines, led by its President, Dr. Maria Linda G. Buhat, RN, other Officers and Members, on the occasion of their Annual Convention. We wish them success in all their endeavors.
