A Malacañang official Thursday expressed support to the plea of the family of publicist Salvador “Bubby” Dacer to cancel the passport of fugitive Sen. Panfilo Lacson.

Deputy presidential spokesperson Charito Planas said it is the right of the victim’s family to ask for the passport cancellation of Lacson, who was accused of being the mastermind in the double murder of Dacer and his driver Emmanuel Corbito double murder in November 2000.

“If I am the family member of Dacer, noon pa dapat hiningi na nila ‘yun,” she told the Manila Bulletin.

Planas said it is not Malacañang that would authorize the cancellation, but it is a matter for the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) to decide.
