Two sports utility vehicles (SUVs) were carjacked within a span of eight hours Thursday night in Quezon City which police suspects were committed by one group.

Chief Inspector Rodelio Marcelo, chief of the Anti-Carnapping Unit of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), said that carjacked were a red Honda CRV (XKV-191) owned by William Lim, 52, and a silver gray Nissan Patrol (YDT-111) of Emmanuel Belen I.

Marcelo said that the carjacking took place eight hours apart with CRV forcibly taken in the area of San Francisco Del Monte (SFDM) at around 10:30 p.m. Thursday while the Patrol was carjacked at 5:15 a.m. Friday in Barangay Pasong Tamo.

The Chief Inspector believes that the same group was involved in the two carjacking incidents.

PO3 Honey Besas suspects that the Bonifacio carjacking group is behind the two incidents due to the modus operandi employed.

Citing accounts of the victims, there were three men involved in the two carjacking incidents and all were armed with .45 caliber pistols and wore black jackets. One of the suspects had a motorcycle mask on.

Besas noted that there has been a lull for around a month in carjacking incidents in Quezon City since many members of the Bonifacio group were arrested around January this year.

Romnick Yumena, 21, driver of the Patrol, said that he was with his employer’s son, Emmanuel II, and Canadian Janes Konin when the carjacking took place in front of the driver’s home at No. 27 Visayas Avenue Extension, Barangay Pasong Tamo.

Yumena recounted that he was supposed to bring Emmanuel and Konin to the airport for their flight to the Visayas when he decided to drop by his house to get his cellular phone.

After getting his mobile phone, Yumena had just returned to the parked Patrol when the three suspects appeared, pointed their weapons at him and took the car keys.

Emmanuel and Konin were forced out of the Patrol as the suspects boarded the SUV and drove off along with the luggage.
