Fil-Am Malone lands high in Talenthouse tilt final cut

Filipino-American singer and dancer Chase “Cha Cha” Malone placed number two on the Top 15 list of Talenthouse’s Creative Invite search for a musician to work with record producer and singer-songwriter Ryan Leslie.
“Thank you everyone for putting in so much effort towards voting for my Ryan Leslie YouTube video,” Malone posted on Facebook.
After the voting closed last March 17, the Seattle-based Malone garnered 2,645 votes to place second.
According to Talenthouse, Leslie will pick the winner among the Top 15 most-voted videos. The winner will be announced on March 31.
The winner will spend a day with Leslie at his New York City studio as the latter works on a song for a major label recording artist.
The entries will be judged based on “musicianship, originality, and entertainment value, and the winning pick will be featured on RyanLeslie.com and promoted throughout his network of sites.”
Malone is also a member of Art of Movement Crew (AOM), a b-boying, or break dancing, group in Seattle, Washington.
He graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from The Art Institute of Seattle, focusing on Media Arts and Animation. He is also into “Concept Art, Visual Development, and 3D Environment/Prop Modeling.”
Talenthouse said working with Leslie is a lifetime opportunity.
“Record producer, singer-songwriter, musician and entrepreneur Ryan Leslie has created a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for all budding producers and musicians!”
Leslie graduated from Harvard University with a degree in Government but pursued his dream of making it in the US music industry.
His break came in 2003 when he became an intern to record producer Younglord.
Malone produced “Keep Giving Your Love To Me,” which was included in the “Bad Boys II” movie soundtrack and sang by Beyoncé.
Tommy Mottola, former chairman and CEO of Sony Music Entertainment, signed Leslie to a publishing deal with Aspen Records. Leslie also became a singer under Casablanca Records, which Mottola co-owns with the Universal Music Group.
Leslie released three albums from 2005 to 2009. Last year, he was nominated in Best Male R&B Artist and Best New Artist in the BET Awards and Best New Artist in the Soul Train Awards.
According to Talenthouse, Malone's schedule in 2009 included work with Mary J. Blige, Chris Brown, Fabolous, Keri Hilson, Rick Ross, Jim Jones, and Kid Cudi.
"This year is shaping up to be just as exciting and the talented winner of this creative invite will not only get a behind the scenes look at how records are made as they shadow Ryan, but they will receive published credit for their participation in the process.”
