Authorities dismantled two illegal checkpoints leading to a mining company in Masinloc, Zambales.

In a recent forum held in Manila, Masinloc Mayor Jessu Edora said that the checkpoints located in Sitio Mandaloy Barangay Kantal and Kilometer 2 in Barangay Baluganon, Masinloc, Zambales, were removed by virtue of a resolution passed by the Sangguniang Bayan.

He alleged that the Minera Tubangon Mining Company claimed ownership of the two roads going to Mount Masinloc which he said is also a clear violation of the law.

“The illegal checkpoints also affect the residents of Barangay Mandaloy and Baluganon since they were restricted in using the roads,” Edora said.

The Sangguniang Bayan of Masinloc issued a resolution to remove the checkpoints as various government agencies such Department of Health (DoH), Bureau of Mines, and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), were not able to pass through the road to carry out their respective projects.
