The city government of Caloocan will provide assistance to graduating students in terms of free "togas" to help ease their families financial obligation needed during the graduation rites.

Mayor Enrico “Recom” Echiverri said the move will take some of the financial load off the shoulders of parents by paying for the togas students usually wear in graduation rites at all public schools in the city.

Echiverri said it is only right for the local government to help out the parents who this year will no longer have to rent the togas needed by their children.

“We are all aware of the current hardship of living, making even the cost of renting togas for their children a big deal. I tell these parents not to worry because my administration will take care of it,” Echiverri said.

The city mayor said he wants to show that the city government would be there for its constituents during times of financial hardships.

“It’s no joke to spent years and years toiling in their studies, that's why it’s very important for students to get on top of that stage, clad in their toga, and take a bow,” he said.

Echiverri said the money which will otherwise be used to rent togas can be used for other expenditures.
