The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Pateros is set to conduct Monday a voter’s education campaign among prisoners and inmates of the Pateros municipal jail.

According Remedios Cruz, election assistant II of Pateros Comelec, the voters’ education campaign will be carried out to help close to 100 Pateros inmates who are registered to vote in the municipality the chance to exercise their right to suffrage.

Cruz said they already requested the Comelec-National Capital Region for a precinct count optical scanner (PCOS) machine so that the inmates will learn the new process on how to vote since the May 10 national and elections will already be computerized.

“We will hold the voters’ education campaign at 10 a.m. this Monday after they (jail officials) requested for it. If the PCOS machines won’t be available for use, we will have a power point presentation to teach them (inmates) how to vote for the coming elections,” Cruz told Manila Bulletin in an interview.
