A new production and talent company was established shortly after the massive devastation caused by typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng last year. Called Episodes, it has versatile and established singer-performer as prime mover.

What differentiates Episodes from other production and talent outfits is that it is service-oriented. Pinky Marquez noted that after Ondoy, many came forward to lend a hand to those adversely affected. Many groups were formed with the intention to help the victims, but sadly only a few groups remain, she said.

“Because of our eagerness to continue to serve our less fortunate brothers and sisters, we’ve decided to band together and form a service-oriented production company that ensures part of its profit to be allotted to certain beneficiaries.”

She said her team is composed of TV, film, theater and stage enthusiasts “with passion for musical excellence and a compassionate heart in producing socio-economic relevant shows. Each member is highly experienced in local and international events or productions either as performer or behind the scene worker.”

Pinky also said her company aims to produce shows that will highlight underrated Filipino talents. “In a country that produces many world-class performers, we seem to overlook those who deserve equal recognition among those who are already considered popular. We would like to be known as a company that discovers and features fresh new talents in the field of entertainment, be it in dancing, singing, modeling or even acting.”

With Pinky, who is executive director of the company, are: Theater veteran Allan Dale Alojipan, managing director; retired international sales manager of San Miguel Corporation Cesar Balitaan, administrative and finance director; entrepreneur and performing artist Jenny Villegas, public relations director; management expert Nodge Chua, marketing director; noted art director Alvi Siongco, creative director; sought-after stage manager Victor Felarca, technical and stage production director; and multi-talented Ferdie Nadera, talent and production supervisor.

Episodes started its musical series for March with a show at the Music Museum featuring remarkable young talents Mica Torre, Kris John Gonzales and Clark Gamul with Baihana, a female pop trio and new discoveries Janine Robles and Migz Ramirez and special guest Geoff Taylor.

And so Episodes will be presenting, also at the Music Museum, West End divas Ima Castro and Yael Pineda. After being on the London stage for a couple of years, they will now share their West End musical experience with the local audience. Watch out for it.
