Bureau of Correction (BuCor) Director Oscar Calderon vowed Monday to press criminal and administrative charges against jail guards who have been coddling an alleged supplier of illegal drugs inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City.

Concerned inmates have earlier asked Calderon to transfer Peter Co, the alleged drug supplier, to another prison system to “decapitate” the drug menace there.

Relatives of the inmates claimed that Co is still very much in control of the drug trade within prison walls and to some extent even outside the NBP.

The relatives complained about the “royal treatment” Co is allegedly receiving from NBP prison guards and some officials.

They said the 40-year-old Co, a Fil-foreigner convicted of drug trafficking by a Muntinlupa court over a decade ago, is reportedly allowed to keep an assortment of cellular phones which he allegedly uses to keep tabs about secret drug transactions at the NBP.
