Manila Bulletin job fair opens this Tuesday

There is good news here!

The two-day Manila Bulletin Classified Job Fair opens Tuesday at the Glorietta Activity Center in Makati City. It is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Over 50 top companies are ready to hire qualified applicants while jobseekers can also take advantage of the free seminars offered by industry experts.

Day One, March 23, features “Resumé Pitfalls & How to Avoid Them,” by Jhoanna O. Gan-So, managing director of HR Club Philippines. Attendees will get samples, tips, and advice on common resumé pitfalls to avoid as well as learn simple solutions to resume problems and the new rules in resumé writing.

Next is “Money Management for Jobseekers,” with Mark So, founder and chief trainer of Forex Club Manila. Job seekers can gain insights and tips on the money issues that concern them, learn how to manage their money while job hunting, and find ways to earn extra income during the job search. Classifieds editor Charlene Fernandez-Bobis, in “What They Don't Tell You in High School and College About Job-Seeking,” shares the best tips and tricks from the many companies and experts who have shared their expertise with the Classifieds. Then, Benedict Hernandez, president of the Call Center Association of the Philippines (CCAP), talks about how those working in the call center industry can keep their jobs in an industry with a high turnover, and how they can smoothly transition from one job to another.

Day Two, March 24, kicks off with a discussion of how a jobseeker can manage the transition from the academe to the cubicle in “From the World of School to the World of Work,” with Ricky Garcia, the youngest member of the board of directors of the Philippine Society for Training and Development (PSTD).

Jobseekers can also find out the “Winning Answers to Interview Questions” with Business Coach president Ruben Anlacan, who will discuss the best ways to handle the usual and the most difficult interview questions and tells applicants what blunders to avoid.

“It’s a Career, Not Just a Job!” with Gina Abuyuan, Manila Bulletin's Business Agenda editor, talking about why it’s a career that applicants should look for if they want work that is rewarding both to the soul and the pocket.

Then, Ging Igual, Growth Leader of Watson Wyatt Phils., Inc. and chairperson of the Industry Group Committee of PMAP, discusses “Corporate Life: The Big Switch,” in which she gives advice to new employees on adapting to corporate life.
