DUMAGUETE CITY (PNA) —The Dumaguete City Police has filed a complaint for murder against the suspect in the fatal shooting of Miss Dumaguete 2007, Ann Rose Neri, after positive identification by witnesses.

Named in the charge sheet was Joselito Concepcion Dayro, 28, married, of San Ramon, Bayawan City, Negros Oriental, who was positively identified by witnesses, including the victim’s sister, as the one who shot Neri at the Dumaguete Quezon Park while she was supervising a practice for a Miss Gay contest last month.

Dayro and Roldan Cantina Navarro, 40, married, of Purok 4, Poblacion, Sta. Catalina, were arrested earlier by the police for another murder incident in Sta. Catalina, on March 10. The victim was identified as Roberto Zamora, 50, of Sitio Colatog, Poblacion, Sta. Catalina.

The two were brought to the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office Wednesday for the filing of the murder charges.

While there, Dayro was positively identified by eye witnesses as the one who also shot dead Neri.
Dayro and Navarro were arrested at the HTCI compound in Barangay Caranoche.

After allegedly killing Zamora, Navarro was quoted as saying it was payment for his debt.

The intelligence community in Dumaguete said they have been monitoring the activities of the gang of five that is operating in the southern portion of the province, and that, the artist's sketch of the face of the suspect done by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group had matched that of Dayro.
