The 35-year-old Spanish beauty Penelope Cruz will join Johnny Depp in the fourth installment of the blockbuster “Pirates of the Caribbean” series.

It’s their second team up after playing husband and wife in the 2000 film, “Blow.”

The Academy-award winning actress will play the daughter of the film’s bad guy, played by “Deadwood” star Ian McShane.

“She’s bringing a lot of humor to it,” according to producer Jerry Bruckheimer.

Cruz’s character, Bruckheimer added, will have “a little romance” with Captain Jack.

Cruz will also be reunited with Rob Marshall who directed her in last year’s Oscar-nominated musical “Nine.” Marshall is taking over directorial duties for Gore Verbinski, who directed the first three entries in the saga.

Geoffrey Rush is also expected to return to the series as Captain Barbossa. Begging off from reprising their roles are Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley.

Asides from “Pirates,” Cruz is set to start working on “Sex and the City 2.”

“Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides” is expected to start filming in June for a Summer 2011 release.
