Philippine Apostolic Congress on Mercy starts tomorrow

By Christina Hermoso The Philippine Apostolic Congress on Mercy (PACOM) will begin tomorrow and will run until January 26 at the Filoil Flying V Sport Arena in San Juan City. cropped-banner3 Papal Nuncio Gabriele Giordano Caccia will celebrate the opening mass with Bishop Ruperto C. Santos, national spiritual director of Divine Mercy Philippines, as the homilist. With the theme “Divine Mercy in Communion with the Young,” Bishop Santos called on the youth “to live worthy and meaningful lives that is centered on Christ.” “With this congress and the Church’s observance of the Year of the Youth, I call on the young generation to always remain hopeful. Never be afraid. Turn to Jesus. Trust Him,” he said. “Also, don't waste your God-given life. Do not give in to materialism, temptations of fame and easy money. Reject and denounce illegal drugs and gambling. Take good care of your life. Live faithfully and fruitfully,” Santos added. “Lastly, don't lose your Catholic faith. Even if there are those who attack and undermine our teachings and beliefs, even if our God is mocked and we are threatened with death, stand firm and don't lose your faith. Hold on to God, and remember His mercy endures forever,” the prelate stressed. More than 2,000 participants are expected to attend the biennial gathering of PACOM which is being hosted by the Manila archdiocese. Several activities will be held during the three-day event including talks, testimonials, and musical performances. Caloocan Bishop Pablo Virgilio David will talk about the “Selfie syndrome and the image of mercy” while known exorcist Rev. Fr. Jose Syquia will discuss “Divine mercy and the battle souls.”
