Congratulations to awarded broadcaster, radio and TV anchor Karen Davila for having been chosen as one of the Young Global Leaders for 2010 by the World Economic Forum. WEF is a non-profit organization based in Switzerland which gathers leaders of states and industries in a forum to tackle the world’s most important issues.

As one of the awardees, Karen will join the 2010 World Economic Forum with other honorees the world over. Among big names to grace the forum are tennis player Roger Federer, singer Wyclef Jean, and the founders of Internet hubs Twitter, Google, and YouTube.

Karen is one of only three Filipinos who made it to the list. The others are micro-financing maven Dennis Eclarin of Hometown Corp. and information technology trailblazer Winston Damarillo of Global Gateway Innovation Exchange.

By the way, Karen anchors "TV Patrol World" and "The Correspondents" on ABS-CBN, "Headstart with Karen Davila" on ANC, and "Pasada Sais Trenta" on radio station DZMM.

With her involvement with World Vision, Karen was in the past named as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) by the Junior Chamber International Philippines (JCI) and was cited as being able to "marshal her beauty, talent, and drive in using television and radio as powerful tools for education and instruments for change."

‘amBisyon2010’ pushes through at CCP April 6

"amBisyon2010" pushes through with its scheduled red carpet premiere on April 6 at the CCP despite the X-rating given to two of its films, "Ganito Tayo Ngayon, Paano na Tayo Bukas?" by Jeffrey Jeturian, and "Ayos Na" by Dante Mendoza by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).

In the film project launched by ANC, the ABS-CBN News Channel, 14 established directors – led by Erik Matti, Jeffrey Jeturian and Brillante Mendoza – and six grant winners committed themselves to do make four eight-minute short films on10 issues in the country, from education to health to corruption and democracy.

The project suffered a snag when the MTRCB gave Jeturian and Mendoza’s films an X-rating which means they couldn’t be shown in public. But after further deliberation, withdrew its X-rating on "Ayos Na," a music video featuring clashing visuals and lyrics on the state of the country. The agency’s earlier decision on Jeturian’s work was however upheld.
