She starred on “All About Eve” in 2009, but now, it’s all about...cooking.

Dramatic actress Sunshine Dizon, who secretly wed pilot John Timothy Ong Tan recently, will be keeping some work at bay in the next nine months to make time for the culinary arts.

She told Manila Bulletin that she’s willing to play the part of the domesticated wife and heed her other “calling.”

“Even with my family and friends, I’ve been the type who’d wake up early in the morning and cook for them. My family loves to cook – Mom and Dad are very good at it – and I’ve always been fascinated by smells coming from the kitchen.”

Sunshine is finishing a diploma course in culinary arts which requires her to “stand up a lot and get burned by oil” most of the times.

She gladly endures that for the sake of her husband whom she describes simply as “God’s gift to me.”

A few days back, the couple made headlines when they tied the knot in civil rites at Valle Verde Country Club. News about the union, attended by only 20 people, surprised many of Sunshine’s fans especially those left wondering why she suddenly took a sabbatical from her shows.

Looking at Sunshine during the interview, we noted that the rumor about her so-called pregnancy is probably just that, a rumor. Wearing a sleeveless black dress and walking in heels at Araneta Coliseum for the taping of “Party Pilipinas,” she was not at all the picture of someone “infanticipating.”

Sunshine, however, offers neither denial nor confirmation about such talk. Prior to the exclusive interview with the Manila Bulletin, her handlers warned, “No personal questions, please.”

Then again, at least in some aspects, none was needed. Sunshine inadvertently shot down rumors that Timothy was not really a pilot by saying that he’ll be taking a break soon to prepare for an exam that will upgrade his rating so he could fly international.

She also debunked talk that Tim already had a son, casting a shadow on her dream of having a church wedding.

“The church wedding will come soon. We’re just waiting for my dad to arrive from the States; maybe this December or next year. But it will come [the church wedding],” she said.

Meanwhile, there are the pots and the pans to attend to. According to Sunshine, she will need to log in 150 hours for OJT, 64 hours as student assistant – and more hours standing up.

Talk about “Tinik sa Dibdib.”
