Enhancing Musical and Pedagogical Skills and Resources for Classroom Teaching
The Philippine Society for Music Education is holding a National Music Education Seminar-Workshop beginning Wednesday at the Philippine Normal University Theater in Manila. Anchored on the theme “Enhancing Musical and Pedagogical Skills and Resources for Classroom Teaching,” the three-day event will endeavor to upgrade teachers’ basic musicianship skills, including singing, choral organization, playing instruments.
The workshop will provide teachers with a broad range of cross-cultural instructional music materials and update them on trends and approaches in classroom music instruction.
Participants will include music arts, physical education and health (MAPEH) teachers, supervisors, and school administrators from both public and private elementary and secondary schools.
The Philippine Society for Music Education, established in 1971, is dedicated to the advancement of music education. With a membership of hundreds of music teachers, musicians, school music administrators, and students, it seeks to provide directions towards creative and effective music instruction on the pre-school, elementary, and secondary levels. It is committed to raising the level of consciousness on the role of music in the aesthetic development of the Filipino, in the formation, preservation, and transmission of cultural heritage, and in the development of nationhood.
Workshops such as this will significantly contribute to the upgrading of the standards of music instruction, encourage the development of instructional materials for music, and promote the performance of Philippine music using native musical instruments.
We congratulate the Officers and Members of Philippine Society for Music Education led by their President Leticia G. del Valle, on the occasion of their National Music Education Seminar-Workshop. We wish them success in all their endeavors.
