Tourists arrested for transporting marijuana

By Zaldy Comanda  BAGUIO CITY — Combine elements of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Mountain Province and the Bontoc Municipal Police Station (MPS) arrested two men transporting marijuana dried leaves at a checkpoint in Samoki, Bontoc, Mountain Province, on Sunday. PDEA Regional Director Edgar Apalla, said the suspects were found to be local tourists from Guiguinto, Bulacan and were identified as Rufino Tenedero Marmito Jr., 20, tricycle driver and Ernie Leongson, 24, a call center agent. Confiscated from them were 12 marijuana dried leaves in bricks and tubular forms with estimated market value of P984, 000.00. The suspects will be facing charges for violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
