Cayetano said the move will be in compliance with President Rodrigo Duterte’s appeal to make SEA Games passes free for all to attract more crowds, primarily Filipinos who are eager to support our national athletes.
“The instructions of the President is to make sure that all Filipino who want to watch live and can be physically present sa games, the organizing committee has decided that all games na hindi pa sold out yung tickets ay i-open at ilibre na,” he said.
Per his update, tickets for crowd-attracting events like basketball, volleyball, and football were already sold out.
But for those who want to avail of complementary general admission tickets may do so on a first-come, first-served basis for some sports and for the closing ceremony.
He said there were also allotted general admission tickets which will be distributed to some local government units (LGUs) having jurisdiction over particular SEA Games venues like Manila, Pasay City, Pasig City, Muntinlupa City for Metro Manila cluster; Sta. Rosa and Biñan for Laguna cluster; Tagaytay for Cavite cluster; and Calatagan in Batangas Province.
Free tickets will also be distributed to public for specific venues like in Angeles City, Pampanga; San Fernando, Pampanga; San Juan, La Union; Subic, Zambales; and Capas in Tarlac where the New Clark City is located.
“Additional general admission complementary tickets for the opening of the 30th SEA Games shall be turned over the state universities near the Philippine Arena for distribution to all students,” he added.
To note, there were also non-ticketed sports which will be open to public, including lawn ball, golf, squash, floorball, and shooting.
But Cayetano clarified that some sports, at the moment, will no longer issue complementary tickets as these have already been sold out.
“Yung full capacity, yun po yung sinasabi namin na nasold out na,” he said.
As for the closing ceremony in December, the Phisgoc chair said more or less 10,000 tickets will be given out for free through designated ticketing systems, while another 15,000 tickets will be distributed in the athletic coliseums in the provinces of Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, and some areas in Metro Manila.
