The Catholics Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has released a statement regarding the “alleged” bishop caught in an illegal drugs buy-bust operation in Bacoor, Cavite Thursday.
In a Facebook post Friday, CBCP News said a certain Richard Alcantara is “neither a Catholic bishop, nor a priest of the Roman Catholic Church, and is certainly not a member of CBCP.”
In a video taken by Manila Bulletin’s Ali Vicoy, Cavite Police Provincial Office director William Segun said the operation led to the arrest of two suspects.

Alcantara, 38, resident of Brgy. Sineguelasan, Bacoor was allegedly identified as a bishop of the Sacred Order of St. Michael.
Another suspect was named Perlito Alibay, 52, who lives at Tagumpay Compound, Tabing Ilog Dagat, Brgy. Alima Dagat, Bacoor.
During the operation, a police officer who acted as poseur-buyer bought one transparent plastic sachet which contains crystalline substance, which is believed to be shabu, to a certain Fernando Dacuma.
However, Dacuma managed to escape.
Further investigation is still ongoing.
