ILOILO CITY (PNA) – Some 19 election officers (EOs) in Iloilo province will be affected by the revamp implemented by the Commission on Elections (Comelec), according to Elizabeth Doronila, Iloilo provincial elections supervisor.

Doronila said the reshuffle would be implemented within the week.

Of the 19 EOs, 18 will be relieved by reason of relationship to candidates who are running for various positions in the local government units (LGUs) that they presently served.

One EO would be temporarily transferred to the provincial office due to health reasons, she said.

Two of them will be assigned to Guimaras province to take over the positions vacated by EOs who will be transferred to Iloilo.

Doronila said the new assignment would only be temporary as the affected officers would also be returned to their original assignments after the elections.

Among the affected LGUs are Dumangas, Dingle, Balasan, Duenas, Passi City, San Rafael, Badiangan, Calinog, San Joaquin, Guimbal, Janiuay, San Enrique, San Dionisio, Btac Viejo, Tubungan, Maasin and Mina.
