This really ain’t pretty: Fans of the series “You’re Beautiful” are displeased with the 26th season of “Daisy Siete” titled “Adam or Eve,” because the show allegedly “copied” the Koreanovela.

For one, enraged Pinoy K-addicts claim that the last season of the Kapuso network’s long-running afternoon series has the same concept as “Minami Shineyo” (Korean title).

“You’re Beautiful” (also known as “He’s Beautiful”), which aired on Seoul Broadcasting System (SBS) from Oct. 7 to Nov. 26, 2009, is about a nun-in-training named Mi Nyeo who  disguised herself as her twin brother, Mi Nam, the newest member of the band A.N.JELL, who was recovering from a serious accident.

Meanwhile, “Adam or Eve” has the same story, only that its female lead, played by Sexbomb Dancer Rochelle Pangilinan, is a church choir member.

More, a fan with username “mytruestyle810303” posted two detailed blog entries on social networking site Multiply in which she presented the striking similarities between the two shows – from the story, the scenes, and even the characters’ names.

In her post last April 13, the blogger-fan enumerated 30 plus scenes aired during the first week of “Adam or Eve” (April 5-9) that have noticeable resemblances with “YAB” (the Korean drama’s nickname). One is during the opening scene: Rochelle’s character is running late for the mass. During the ceremony, she notices a bunch of girls drooling over a magazine spread of the band named Adams. She tried to silence them but to not avail, so she  snatched the magazine from them, thus creating a commotion.

Almost the same scene took place on “YAB,” only that the fan girls were listening to the band’s music inside the church.

Other similar scenes mentioned in the post include the announcement of lead vocalist Tae Kyung/Gian as leaving the group; manager visits Mi Nyeo/Rochelle asking her to temporarily replace her twin brother and; someone from the band walks out when Tae Kyung/Gian’s substitute was introduced to the group.

Unhappy fans swarmed various social networking sites such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Multiply to express their dismay over the alleged “copycat” show.

What worries them primarily is how other countries will perceive the Philippines.

“I don’t know if [I] can be proud to be a Filipino after reading this article because we have to admit it, we K-ADDICTS will not be K-Addicts if we Filipinos are creating good dramas,” said one over Multiply.

Fans also cried foul over the show’s seeming claim that the story is original, written by Suzette Doctolero, when it was, as they pointed out, written by the Hong Sisters (“My Girl,” “Delightful Girl Chunhyang”).

“Ang pangit nyan ‘pag ipapalabas na sa Pilipinas ang orig, baka may hindi na manood ng orig kasi katulad lang DS (“Daisy Siete”). Kung talagang may permission ang GMA from [Korea] sana man lang bigyan nila ng pasabi na gaya.

“INSPIRED? ang pangit, sana binago nila [‘yung] ibang details para mas gumanda [‘yung] nauna. (kung may mas gaganda pa sa You Are Beautiful). konting input man lang ng sariling imagination,” said another via YouTube.

Note that GMA-7’s rival station, ABS-CBN, has acquired the rights for “You’re Beautiful” in 2009.

"You're Beautiful" is set to air in the Philippines within the year.
